Back To The Future: Movie Gets Broadway Musical

The movie properties of the 1980s have been constantly plundered for reboots and remakes. But you will certainly not see one for the 1985’s Back to the Future. Co-writer Bob Gayle and director Robert Zemeckis have already opposed all attempts to do so.

But you can check out the brand-new iterations of Marty McFly and Doc Brown next summer, as they will be heading to Broadway. “Back to the Future: The Musical” is ready to open on the first week of August 2023 at the Winter Garden Theatre.

The musical has already gained plenty of success at the Adelphi Theatre and Manchester Opera House in London. Just like the feature, the musical displays the adventure of Marty and Doc as they threaten to unravel time.

Roger Bart played the role of Doc, and Olly Dobson played Marty in the UK. The actor to play Marty on Broadway will be announced for this upcoming musical soon. Bob Gayle wrote the book for the musical, and the music is taken care of by songwriter Glen Ballard and trilogy composer Alan Silvestri.

Gale even mentioned that the idea of creating this musical popped up with Zemeckis’s wife, Leslie, as they watched The Producers on Broadway over a decade ago. She suggested 1985’s Back to the Future be reimagined as a stage show.

The Broadway musical Back to the Future is set to take place in 2023. It’ll definitely be nice to see the famous “Time Machine,” a gull-winged DeLorean, once more. Projection screens and a pneumatic platform will create the illusion of the vehicle on stage.
